Registration

Registration for the Sustainable Space: Legal & Regulatory Aspects Summit is now open at:

https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/sustainable-space-legal-regulatory-aspects-tickets-539566557097

Registration is open until 11:59pm (BST) 16th May 2023 and venue capacity is limited.

Motivation

The UK has set its space ambitions to capture 10% of the global space sector by 2030. At the heart of this push is the desire for a domestic launch capability and new legislation and regulations have recently entered into force with this motivation.

However, it is unclear at this juncture, how ‘sustainable’ the UK Space effort really is. Indeed, there are international space sustainability guidelines, along with national-level space sustainability roadmaps and initiatives. But how these transpire into hard action with concrete outcomes is currently not obvious.

This meeting is designed to take the recent work in UK Space Sustainability and ask how this is going to be implemented into the Space Sector Supply chain.

Are we designing and launching satellites with sustainability in mind?

Are there financing options for companies that engage with ESG goals?

Are we allocating spectrum in a fair and equitable manner?

And are the new UK legislation and regulations are fit for purpose when it comes to space sustainability?

We will give direct and tangible outcomes on ways forward for the UK space sector noting how the space industry can avoid ‘navel gazing’ and ’greenwashing’.
